Brilliant article! I so needed to read this. Hearing Americans' hysteria about "socialism" wears me down (the US definition of "socialism" is any government funding received by anyone who's not a corporation.)

Your perspective on the political spectrum and how Norway compares to the US was a good reminder that there are some countries where people don't automatically equate "value" with "monetary value." I especially appreciated your celebration of "useless knowledge."
