I wrote this reasoned, articulate response because I also cringed a little bit at the article. It WAS advocating a good thing, which is reaching out to the other side, though I wish he had taken his handy Smug-O-Meter and put some batteries in his Cliché Zapper and had at it for a bit. Still. The guy is not advocating putting Trumpers in camps or running them over with vans.

The Left (or "Lefties" if you're not our fan) does have this problem with "love." Our worldview is based on ideas like fairness, justice, equality and dignity for all types of people in all different circumstances. It can get kind of, you know. Huggy.

But I'd rather be huggy than say, "you are all horrible people, conservatards!" which would be based on hate. Once the left starts exhibiting hate, and being our hate, our whole rationale for existing is tainted.

Then I read over my article and I realized you didn't deserve it, I mean, merit it. Not when you make such a hateful, also deliberately idiotic, remark. It was too good - too loving, in fact - to waste on a mind that's closed like a trap. That's what Buddhists call "idiot compassion."

So stew in your hate, Harry, and while you're at it, look in your own goddamn mirror.
