And yes, it’s a fact of life that we are wired this way, that we make terrible decisions, decisions that conflict with our self-interest, decisions that we make again and again and don’t learn from, decisions that hurt other people, that hurt ourselves, maybe because we need to feel the pain of being human, and the pain of poor-decision making makes us feel alive…

Is it possible — no, bear with me — that this iPhone cord theory could be applicable to — politics, as well? For example, might this explain why we’d vote for someone who has stupid, or even no, ideas, makes racist remarks and abuses women, then brags about it?

I know, I know. Next thing I’ll be trying to convince you the world is round! As if!
