I've been exasperated about Kamala Harris being subjected to that "backwards in high heels" test, that states that women must do everything perfectly and well beyond male standards if they are even to be acknowledged as competent. And I've hated the stance that gives moral equivalence to Harris and Trump, as though "policy differences" and "the economy" are how they should be compared, rather than as a woman seeking to be President, vs. a man seeking to be King.

So I was glad to read your glowing account of Harris's final argument. She is indeed a gifted and inspiring speaker. She stepped into the role offered to her only a few weeks ago as though destined for this moment in history and when I hear her, my eyes are not dry.

I almost don't dare to think about tomorrow's election. I'm Canadian, yet I am engaged in this election as though it were pivotal for my country, too. Which, actually, it is.
