Jordan Peterson wants to abolish the OHRC and OISE as “dangerous.” Who would want to abolish an organization protecting human rights, an organization dedicated to training educators at a post-graduate level, who would consider these “dangerous,” except an angry, entitled white heterosexual male?

Did I say angry? I meant enraged.

I’m sorry to trade in stereotypes, but they make it so easy.

Jordan Peterson is the most dangerous kind of fascist: The smiling, intellectual, “reasonable” type. His tweet referenced above is typical. It’s a top-down strategy: Position yourself as having impeccable “intellectual” credentials — University professor! — know your target group — mostly other enraged, white heterosexual males — then trigger their sense of entitlement, their anger and their homophobia/transphobia with a carefully-primed target on which they can focus. Trump has done the same with “immigrants”; less finesse, same MO.

Subtly entwined in all of this angst about the sex-ed curriculum is that meme that just won’t lie down and die: the concept that the LGBTQ2 community is somehow “out for the children.” It’s the Centralia mine fire of homophobia that won’t stop smouldering away beneath the surface.
