Seriously? Surely the act of enslavement historically followed the conquering of peoples who would then be held to be inferior to the conquerors? How is that "not based on race"? Belief in the inferiority of a class of people is the very definition of racism. I mean, I don't believe anyone was saying, 'Let's enslave these fine, upstanding people we've conquered, who are every bit our equals, to assist us with our economic greed!" Do you?
