You totally had me at "entitled conservatives."
I don't know what it is about progressives that always leaves us reacting to a conservative narrative rather than advancing our own.
I'm starting to wonder if the very qualities that set progressive thinkers apart — compassion, the "big tent", wanting to extend justice to more people rather than restricting it, the willingness to believe that others are acting in good faith — make us passive, and almost become obstacles to success when we're dealing with the ruthless, unprincipled and powerful.
I'm not advocating violence. But a little less niceness might be a start. If speaking truth counts as "not nice," and it probably does, bring it on.
